A church on the sunrise side showing up for our neighbors

Tawas Area Presbyterian Church has gathered in East Tawas for many years. We're part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), which means we're governed by our own members, we take scripture and thinking seriously, and no one person gets the last word.

We seek God's direction and share God's love with people of every age, fostering spiritual growth and authentic connection. Two things we hold ourselves to: we show up, and we show love — not just in words, but in real, practical, life-changing action.

How We Show Up

Four values. We'd rather be held to these than admired for them.

Authenticity Over Appearance

Come as you are. We value the "real" over the "polished" — creating space for honest questions, real struggles, and growth over time.

Present When It Matters

We stay attentive to the needs around us. When someone is hurting or help is needed, we show up with courage and compassion.

Holistic Wellness

Your mental and emotional health matter here. We believe spiritual growth is inseparable from your overall well-being — and happens best in a supportive community.

A Seat for Everyone

We practice the kind of hospitality Jesus modeled — welcoming people from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and beliefs. Whether you're a skeptic, a seeker, or a long-time follower, you belong here from day one.

What We Believe

Grace isn't earned, and it isn't a reward for having your life together. We didn't get here by qualifying, and neither will you.

God loves first

Jesus taught us how to be loving, compassionate, and genuinely concerned for our neighbors — and then lived it all the way through. That way of life is what we're trying to learn, together and imperfectly.

Jesus is who we follow

Scripture is worth wrestling with

We read the Bible together, out loud, with our questions attached. Doubt is not the opposite of faith; it's usually part of it.

Belief that never reaches your hands, your calendar, or your neighbor isn't finished yet. So we serve — not to earn anything or to be noticed, but because that's what faith looks like in action.

Faith is an action verb
